Repair Pen drive with single command.
Hello folks! Welcome to my blog . Today’s story will be covering a single most powerful command that is widely used by IT professionals in order to repair their damaged pen drives.
What happens to a Pen drive when a system runs out of power while transferring the data. Sometimes due to luck, Nothing bad happens. But if you are having a bad luck there are chances that your Pen drive gets corrupted. In such case all we need to do is :
- Plug in your USB drive.
- Open command prompt (win > search > type “cmd” > )
- Right click on cmd and run it as administrator.
- Enter the following command : “chkdsk <drive_letter:> /r”
- Wait for the above command to Finish.
The “/r” parameter tells CHKDSK to fix errors on the disk (which can also be done separately using “/f” parameter), Locate bad sectors and recover readable information.
If CHKDSK identifies lost file fragments, It saves them as “CHK” files on the USB Flash drive. There are many utilities that you can try to recover CHK files created including UnCHK, FileCHK and CHK-Mate. They all do more or less the same, So it doesn’t matter too much which one you try first.
